媒介尚古中的“褶皱时间”:对Newsletter新闻信行动的基础设施反转分析

摘　　要：已有的“媒介时间”经验研究都秉持着线性时间观念,时间面前人人平等,时间是一个均匀流逝的常量。本文提出,数智化生态中的时间应被视作具有“褶皱”的变量,而非常量。本研究对Substack、小报童、Bulletin和微信公众平台这四个应用展开“基础设施反转”分析,发现Newsletter这一媒介尚古行动是一种基于50年前发明的电子邮件基础设施的演进和创新,其核心是对“创作者-读者”关系在算法泛滥、生成式AI井喷生态下的一种结构性调整。媒介时间在这次关系调整过程中具有解释力:Newsletter将过去与将来、封闭与开放、异步和同步、私人与公共的时间可供性纳入信息基础设施的设计中。在Newsletter行动中,褶皱时间体现在上述四组时间可供性的穿梭与折叠。“褶皱时间”为Newsletter、播客、电子杂志等媒介尚古趋势提供一个解释思路,纠正了已有基础设施研究中重空间、轻时间的倾向;更重要的是,反线性、反算法、反建制的褶皱时间体验将成为数智化时代的人的新生存境况。文章最后讨论了对“数智化生存”进行理论探索的可能方向。Existing research on“media time”has adhered to a linear conception of time,where time is considered a constant that flows uniformly,treating all individuals equally.This paper argues that time in the digital intelligence ecosystem should be regarded as a variable with“folds”rather than a constant.Through a“reverse infrastructure”analysis of four content-pushing platforms—Substack,Xiaobaotong,Bulletin,and WeChat Official Accounts—this study reveals that the newsletter,as a form of media nostalgia,is an evolution and innovation based on email infrastructure invented 50 years ago.Its core lies in the structural adjustment of the“writers-readers relationship”within the context of algorithmic saturation and the explosion of generative AI technologies.Media time plays a crucial explanatory role in this relational adjustment:newsletters incorporate the temporal affordances of past and future,closed and open,asynchronous and synchronous,as well as private and public into the design of the information infrastructure.The concept of“folded time”manifests in the navigation and interweaving of these four temporal affordances within the newsletter ecosystem.“Folded time”not only provides an explanatory framework for media nostalgia trends such as newsletters,podcasts,and electronic magazines,but also corrects the existing bias in infrastructure studies that emphasizes space over time.More importantly,the anti-linear,anti-algorithmic,and anti-establishment experience of folded time will become the new existential condition for individuals in the digital intelligence era.The paper concludes with a discussion of potential theoretical directions for exploring“digital intelligence existence.”
