The high-temperature confocal microscope and electron microscope were used to study sulfur-containing steel 1215MS,and the mechanism of sulfur activity during reheating was clarified. As the reheating temperature increases, the sulfur overall shows a gradual growth, followed by solid solution into the steel matrix. We have clarified the mechanism of sulfide inclusions in sulfur-containing steel 1215MS during reheating, that is the inclusions mainly exist in three ways:manganese sulfide, manganese sulfide combined with oxide, manganese sulfide combined with oxide and ferrous sulfide; As the temperature increases, inclusions undergo a significant growth process. As the temperature increases, inclusions will decompose and precipitate sulfur. As the temperature increases and remains warm, the precipitated sulfur will dissolve into the matrix again. When the temperature rises to 1240℃,all sulfur has already dissolved into the matrix. The transformation diagram of sulfides in steel was obtained through orthogonal experiments. The reheating process has been adjusted to improve the efficiency of steel rolling production in response to the heating patterns of sulfur and sulfide.
