“天下”的跨文化翻译:以卫礼贤1911年和顾彬2011年《道德经》德译本为例

摘　　要：“天下”概念蕴含中华民族的思维方式与价值观念,本文以德国汉学家卫礼贤于1911年出版以及顾彬于2011年出版的《道德经》德译本为研究对象,旨在探讨两部出版时间相差一个世纪的译本中对于“天下”概念的不同阐释。研究结果表明,“天下”在两部译本中的翻译包括直译“unter dem Himmel(在天空之下)”,意译“auf Erden(在人世)”“die Welt(世界)”“das Reich(帝国、王国)”。卫礼贤译本中以“die Welt”居多,顾彬多用“das Reich”翻译,对“天下”的不同翻译选择体现了译者的主体性,与译者的经历、所处时代背景有关,最后本文提出在未来中德跨文化交流中使用音译加括注的模式翻译“天下”概念的可能性。This paper examines the diverse interpretations of the term Tiancia in the two translations of the Daodejing by Richard Wilhelm and Wolfgang Kubin:“unter dem Himmel”,“auf Erden”,“die Welt”and“das Reich”.In Wilhelm's Tao Te King.Das Buch des Alten vom SINN und LEBEN(1911),“die Welt”is predominantly used,while Kubin mainly uses“das Reich”in Lao Zi.Der Urtext(20ll1).The different choices of words in the translation of Tiancia reflects the translators'understanding and is influenced by their experiences and the historical context in which they lived.Finally,for future intercultural communication between Germany and China,there is the option of translating the term Tiancia with transliteration and providing a literal translation in parentheses.
