摘　　要：It is with great pleasure that we organize this special issue to celebrate the 80th birthday of Professor Peter Caines,who has made seminal contributions to the Systems and Control field.Professor Caines's academic trajectory started in the United Kingdom.He received the BA in mathematics from Oxford University in 1967 and the PhD in systems and control theory in 1970 from Imperial College,University of London,under the supervision of David Q.
