摘 要:Carbon assimilation during photosynthesis is catalyzed by the enzyme ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase(RuBisCO)in a process that annually transfers more than 150 gigatons of atmospheric CO_(2)into plant biomass(Lai et al.,2024).Limitations in the enzymatic rate of CO_(2)fixation(2–7 s^(−1)across land plants)is compensated for by packing chloroplasts with up to 200 mg/mL RuBisCO,representing 30%–50%of the total soluble protein of the leaf(Robinson et al.,1988).
