“People-centered” Visual Expression in Industry-themed Landscape Paintings in Hubei in the Early Days of the People's Republic of China

摘  要:“十七年”期间,湖北地区的画家创作出数量较为可观的工业题材山水画,着重表现当时的社会主义经济建设成就,具有一定的代表性。为了更好地讴歌时代精神,这些作品打破传统山水画的创作范式,从题材表现、形象塑造、笔墨技法等方面展开变革。变革后的山水画不再是文人审美观念的物化承载,而更加符合劳动人民的审美习惯,其叙事语义也从文人情趣转化为讴歌社会主义经济建设成就,赞美劳动人民的伟大力量。此外,为了有效彰显作品所蕴含的“人民性”,湖北美术界还通过发展群众美术、培养工人画家等方式,进一步强化了人民群众在艺术创作中的参与度。During the Seventeen-year Chinese Literature of 1949-1966, painters in Hubei created a large number of representative industry-themed landscape paintings that demonstrated the achievements of socialist economy at that time. Painters broke with landscape painting traditions and carried out reforms in themes, images and techniques to better eulogize the spirit of the times. After that, landscape paintings did not demonstrate literati's aesthetic concepts any more, but started to reflect the aesthetic taste of the working people. The narrative shifted from literati taste to eulogizing the achievements of socialist economy and praising the great power of the working people. To emphasize people-centeredness, the art community in Hubei also promoted the development of public art and cultivated worker painters, strengthening the participation of the people in artistic creation.
