The lacquer art in China and Japan has endured and evolved for thousands of years, forming a strong lacquer culture atmosphere. However, under the background of industrialization, changes in lifestyle, shrinking demand, and difficulties in mass production, lacquer art, once popular globally, has gradually become a static display item in museums.Against the backdrop of increasing global attention to the protection of intangible cultural heritage,China and Japan have taken action to inherit and protect lacquer art in various forms,in order to revitalize this ancient art form.By comparing the similarities and differences in government policy support and protection, talent cultivation and skill inheritance, development of lacquer art industry, and international exchange of lacquer art between China and Japan, this article summarizes and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of Chinese lacquer art inheritance and protection, and looks forward to the future development path of Chinese lacquer art.
