方志彤英译《资治通鉴》之译者行为探析

摘　　要：“行为—文本视域”下的“行为批评”语义分析框架显示方志彤的双重文化认同影响了其翻译动机,具体表现为方志彤在翻译选材方面,既有强烈的传承中国文化的意识,又兼顾美国文化的需求。在“文本—语言视域”下的“文本批评”语义分析框架内观之,方志彤主要采用了直译与格义的翻译方法,旨在保持《资治通鉴》的史料与文学价值,减少源文化在翻译过程中的变形。在“行为—社会视域”下的“效果批评”语义分析框架内观之,方志彤以分级尾注考证文献,展现《资治通鉴》的史学价值,满足西方社会对“三国”史料编纂法的索骥需求。方志彤的华人离散译者身份从根本上塑造了其深刻的双重文化认同,从而影响他的翻译动机,最终对其翻译选材、翻译方法的选取与注释形式的创新等译者行为发挥关键作用。Within the semantic framework of"Behavior Criticism"under the perspective of"Behavior-Text",Achilles Fang's bicultural identity influences his translation motivation,especially his material selection,reflecting his commitment to preserving the culture of his hometown and his consideration of the needs of foreign cultures;within the semantic framework of"Text Criticism under the perspective of"Text-Language",Achilles Fang predominantly employes literal translation and the method of"geyi'(analogical interpretation)to preserve the literary and historical significance of Zizhi Tongjian,aiming to reduce the cultural distortion;within the semantic framework of"Effect Criticism"under the perspective of"Behavior-Society",Achilles Fang uses graded footnotes to substantiate the documents and highlight the historiographical value of Zizhi Tongjian,addressing Western society's interest in the compilation of"Three Kingdoms"historical materials.Research indicates that Achilles Fang's identity as a diaspora translator fundamentally shapes his bicultural identity,which influences his translation motivation.This identity-driven motivation has critical impact on key aspects of his translator behavior,including content selection,translation methods,and innovations in annotation style.
