摘　　要：赫尔墨斯之杖是《奥德赛》卷五中对应奥德修斯实际处境的隐喻性物件。停留于卡吕普索之岛是一种类似于睡眠的状态,赫耳墨斯之杖将沉睡者唤醒的神力对应着奥德修斯结束心灵与肉身的漫长停滞,开始在流转的时间中行动。进入变化的奥德修斯不断生成对“物各有性”的认识,其中人的自然或必然性是变化而非静止。这一认知解释了奥德修斯在游历中恐惧睡眠、追求变化的原因,也表现了《奥德赛》对奥德修斯的智慧和凡人生命特性的界定。The staff of Hermes is a metaphorical object in The Odyssey(Book 5),corresponding to Odysseus'actual situation.His stay on Calypso's island represents a state akin to sleep,and the divine power of Hermes'staff to awaken the sleeper parallels Odysseus'release from the prolonged stagnation of both body and soul,enabling him to act within the flow of time.As Odysseus undergoes transformation,he continually gains an understanding of"the order of nature"',recognizing that human nature or necessity is characterized by change rather than stasis.This recognition explains Odysseus'fear of sleep and his pursuit of change during his journey.It also reflects how The Odyssey defines Odysseus'wisdom and the characteristic of the mortals.
