从《焚椒录》看辽代文学的发展水平

摘　　要：辽代王鼎的《焚椒录》,是一部兼具笔记与传奇性质的优秀作品。作为传奇作品,与宋代的同类作品相比,绝无逊色。它能躲过辽代严厉文禁流传至今,既有其本身艺术力量的因素,也是一种偶然。在当今的中国文学史研究中,辽代基本上是被忽视的,文学史家曾有“元无文学”之说,对辽代文学评价,则更等而下之。但有《焚椒录》一篇,足以说明辽代文学发展所达到的高度。我们无法推知,辽代有多少如《焚椒录》这样甚至可能更优秀的作品,因辽政府文禁未能流传,而淹没在历史尘埃中。把《焚椒录》看作辽代优秀文学作品的冰山一角,可以得出这样的认识:辽代文学的发展,达到了相当高的水准。它承唐伴宋,无疑是中国文学史一个很有价值的重要部分。由此我们更应该高度重视《焚椒录》,因为它标志着一个朝代文学的高度。进而对于辽代文学有幸存留的吉光片羽,都应备加珍视。The Burned Pepper Records(Fenjiao Lu),authored by Wang Ding of the Liao Dynasty,stands as a remarkable literary work blending the styles of anecdotal notes(biji)and classical tales(chuanqi).As a chuanqi text,it rivals comparable Song Dynasty works in artistry.Its survival despite the Liao regime’s stringent literary censorship reflects both its intrinsic literary merit and historical serendipity.In contemporary Chinese literary history studies,the Liao Dynasty remains largely overlooked.Literary historians once claimed that“the Yuan Dynasty had no literature,”and their evaluation of Liao literature was even more dismissive.Yet this text alone is sufficient to demonstrate the high level of literary achievements during the Liao Dynasty.It is impossible to determine how many works,perhaps works even more outstanding than The Burned Pepper Records,were lost to history due to the Liao government’s literary censorship.Viewing it as merely the tip of the iceberg of Liao Dynasty literary excellence allows us to conclude that Liao literature reached a remarkably high standard.Inheriting the legacy of the Tang and the Song,Liao literature undoubtedly constitutes a valuable part of Chinese literary history.For this reason,it deserves greater attention,as it represents the literary achievements of an dynasty.Furthermore,the surviving fragments of Liao literature should be more cherished and studied.
