摘 要:本文探讨了林语堂在北京参与现代性实践的经历及其对北京形象的塑造,分析了他作为跨文化学者在中西文化之间的跨国主义实践。林语堂在北京的六年正值现代性在中国的震荡时期,他积极参与新文化运动,初期主张全面西化,移居美国后转向对中国传统文化的推崇。这一文化转向反映了跨国视角下的现代性反思。林语堂通过“田园化”的北京之美,将其塑造成一个反现代的城市,与纽约的摩登形象形成鲜明对比。林语堂的跨国主义实践不仅促进了中西文化的交流,更是对现代性的跨国反思与修正,北京在反思中成为唯美化的理想家园。The paper explores Lin Yutang's engagement with modernity during his time in Beijing and his role in shaping the image of the city,analyzing his transnational practices as a cross-cultural scholar navigating between Chinese and Western cultures.Lin Yutang's six-year stay in Beijing coincided with a period of intense modernistic upheaval in China,during which he actively participated in the New Culture Movement.Initially advocating for comprehensive Westernization,Lin later shifted to a profound appreciation of traditional Chinese culture after relocating to the United States.This cultural shift reflected a transnational reconsideration of modernity.Lin Yutang portrayed Beijing through a pastoral"lens,crafting it as an anti-modern city in stark contrast to the modern image of New York.His transnational practices not only facilitated cultural exchange between China and the West but also represented a critical transnational reflection on and revision of modernity.In this reflective process,Beijing emerged as an idealized,aestheticized homeland.
