Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)are pervasive in numerous sectors, such as industrial emissions, automobile exhaust, and solvent utilization. The presence of VOCs in the environment has been linked to significant environmental contamination and potential human health risks.Consequently, the effective removal of VOCs has emerged as a crucial aspect of atmospheric environmental protection.Zeolites have become the preferred adsorbents or catalysts for the removal of VOCs due to their rich pore structure,ion-exchange capacity and good stability, low production cost,as well as shape selectivity and adsorptive properties for gaseous molecules. From the perspective of structure and composition of zeolite molecular sieves, the latest research progress on the use of zeolites as adsorbents and catalysts for the removal of VOCs is reviewed, focusing on the effects of its topology, pore structure,Si/Al ratio, active species and other factors on the adsorption and catalytic oxidation performance of VOCs.Furthermore, the paper identifies the opportunities and challenges in the use of zeolites for the removal of VOCs.
