“技术决定论”与“技术的社会形成论”:从分立到耦合

摘　　要：“技术决定论”盛行于二十世纪七十年代以前,主张技术决定社会的变迁;“技术的社会形成论”产生于二十世纪八十年代,主张技术是由社会因素建构而成的。“技术决定论”与“技术的社会形成论”不是对立而是分立的关系,分立是两者的现实关系,在技术与社会关系问题上,两者分别谈论技术对社会的影响以及社会对技术的建构;耦合是两者的可能关系,技术对社会的决定与社会对技术的建构是技术与社会关系的一体两面,相互统一。因此,后续研究要秉持合理的态度对待两种理论的关系,从而全面把握技术与社会关系。“Technological determinism”prevailed before the 1970s,positing that technology determines social change.“Social shaping of technology”emerged in the 1980s,arguing that technology is constructed by social factors.“Technological determinism”and“social shaping of technology”are not in opposition but rather in a state of separation;this separation represents their actual relationship.When it comes to the relationship between technology and society,these two theories respectively discuss the impact of technology on society and the social construction of technology.However,their potential relationship is one of coupling,as the determination of society by technology and the social construction of technology are two sides of the same coin in the technology-society relationship,mutually unified.Therefore,subsequent research should adopt a rational attitude towards the relationship between these two theories in order to comprehensively grasp the relationship between technology and society.
