Objective To explore the effect of surgery on immune cell function of patients with chronic tonsillitis. Methods A total of 30 cases with chronic tonsillitis treated by tonsillectomy in Department of ENT of our hospital from January 2014 to October 2015 were selected as the observation group, and 20 cases of healthy people were included into the control group. The peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets in control group were detected, and that before and after operation in the observation group were detected. Results The serum CD3+,CD4+,CD4+/CD8+[(57.34 ±5.82)%,(28.75 ± 4.91)%,(1.12 ± 0.22), respectively] in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group [(67.29±8.25)%,(35.58±5.76)%,(1.27±0.29), respectively], P<0.05; After the treatment, the serum CD3+,CD4+,CD4+/ CD8+[(65.26±6.91)%,(33.16±5.54)%,(1.26±0.26), respectively] in the observation group were significantly higher than before treatment, P<0.05. Conclusion Chronic tonsillitis can decrease the immune function of patients, while tonsillectomy can recovery the immune function of the patients in the short term.
