摘　　要：亨利·詹姆斯是一位偏好疾病书写和病态人物形象塑造的作家。在《一位女士的画像》中他把羸弱多病的拉尔夫·杜歇描写成难以定夺的"阳刚之气"抑或是"阴柔之美",为这部经典之作蒙上一层神秘的面纱。围绕小说疾病叙事,就拉尔夫的男性气质展开论述,挖掘了病态人物形象的塑造动因、隐喻的审美内涵以及艺术的创作根源,阐明在他柔弱的外表下为何潜藏着一颗刚健的内心这一悖论式的主题。Henry Jamess novels are typically featured with disease portrayal and pathological characterization. His classical novel The Portrait of a Lady is mystified by the masculinity or femininity of Ralph Trouchett, the weak and sickly hero. With disease portrayal as a central clue, this article analyzes Ralph's personality, and explores the motivations for pathological characterization, the novel's metaphorical aesthetics and artistic creation so as to reveal the paradoxical theme that Ralph is weak in health but strong in mind.
