Prunus salicina  has been grafted on three kinds of stocks. By measuring the POD activity and the zymogram of POD isoenzyme of branch barks, buds, and leaves of spring branches, through observing and analyzing the growing norms,we find that different stocks have striking influence on the growing of the plum. The height of the tree and trunk, the crown diameter and the volume of crown are all the smallest on Cerasus tomentosa stock. The 4 growing norms on stocks of Amygdalus davidiana and Armeniaca sibirica are higher than those on Cerasus tomentosa. Different stocks have different effects on the activity of POD. POD activity on Cerasus tomentosa stock is higher than that on Amygdalus davidiana and Armeniaca sibirica. The POD activity have a strikingly negative relationship with the height of tree, trunk girth, diameter of crown, the volume of the tree crown, and the dwarfed nature of the stocks. The number of belt of POD biochem isoenzyme have a strikingly negative relationship with the height of tree, the diameter of crown, and the volume of the crown. However, the number of belts of POD biochem isoenzyme have no striking relationship with the trunk girth.
