摘　　要：双关是英汉两种语言中十分常见的一种修辞格。它利用音或义的巧合 ,进行同码异义的偷换 ,有意使语句同时兼有双重含义 ,来达到言在此而意在彼的特殊效果 ,而第二层意思才是本意所在 ,才是言内意义蕴含的语用意义。虽然英汉双关在构成和修辞作用上基本相同 ,但由于两种语言的语音不同 ,两种语言的多义词并不能一一对应 。This essay is a comparison of stylistic device--pun between English and Chinese. It is known that pun is one of the most common stylistic devices both in English and Chinese.As linguistic universalism of these two languages and close association of these two nationsexist,they have much in common in the formation of pun--homophone and homograph. However,as languages and culture differ, there are some differences between them.
