摘　　要：本文综述了并行处理理论,着重介绍了按照通信顺序进程理论设计的晶片机和OCCAM语言.概述了英国学术界和工业界为维持和巩固在并行处理上的领先地位所作的努力.反映了世界上第五代计算机研制的一个侧面.This paper briefly describes the parallel processing computing theory and introduces the transputer and OCCAM designed according to the theory of Communicating Sequential Processes, reflecting some aspects of the current status of fifth generation computers. The industrial and academic actions for maintaining and developing the UK's world leading position in parallel processing are also mentioned.
