摘　　要：目前，视频会议系统在全球都受到了人们的广泛关注，尤其是受到美国“九·一一”恐怖袭击事件和近期全球SARS疫情的影响，各国政府和企业对于在国际和洲际间进行的视频会议的需求得到了大幅度增加。文中描述了视频会议系统的发展历程；简要地阐述了视频会议系统的终端类型和网络拓扑结构；对视频会议系统的价值链、市场分类、为企业带来的经济效益，以及我国市场应用状况及需求特性进行了分析，对视频会议系统的发展趋势提出一些看法。At present, video conference system(VCS) is popular in the world. Especially, with the event of 9·11 terrorist attacks in the United States and SARS throughout the world, the demand for international and domestic VCS is greatly increasing for worldwide governments and enterprises. This article states the development roadmap of VCS, terminal types and network topology architecture of VCS. What's more, this article analyses value chain, the differentiation of markets, economic benefits to enterprises and the application and demand of our country. Finally, this article gives some opinion of the development trend of VCS. 
