摘　　要：乔治·艾略特是英国 19世纪女作家。她在其作品中描述现实社会生活中的普通劳动人民 ,反映社会与宗教道德问题 ,因此 ,大多评论家都将这位小说家与 19世纪的理性主义、实证哲学和现实主义联系在一起。然而 ,从乔治·艾略特对早期作品中的场景、人物、情节的处理以及她的道德说教不难看出 。George Eliot is a female English writer during the realistic literary period of the nineteenth century. She described, in her novels, the ordinary people in real life and laid open social and religious problems. Thus, many critics would think of rationalism, positivism and realism when talking about her. But it is easy to note from her early writings that George Eliot is a romantic humanist. This article analyzes her romantic sentiments based on her early writings.
