摘　　要：元数据是网络环境下提出的新概念 ,但不是新事物。文献编目、MARC等也是元数据。不论是现代元数据还是传统元数据 ,均随时代需求不断发展。了解二者的异同 ,有利于各种信息资源的组织与利用。Metadata is a new concept which is put forward under the environment of network,but it is not a new thing.Document Catalogue and MARC etc.are metadata.Whether they are modern metadata or traditional metadata,they should be developed with the demand of the time.Getting to know the difference of the two metadata is an advantage to make good use of various information resources.
