对《现代英语词汇学》的两处质疑

摘　　要：《现代英语词汇学》教材中列举的以“华尔街”代表美国垄断资本等例子应属于英语修辞格中的“借代”(metonymy),而不是“提喻”(synecdoche);“-ism一般翻译成主义”的提法是不科学的,会误导读者。This paper attempts to point out two problems in Modern English Lexicology authored by Professor Lu Guoqiang. It is held that such examples as Wall Street for the American money-market do not belong t o synecdoche, as indicated in the textbook, but belong to metonymy, and that th e proposition to translateism into is not scientific and may have a bad inf luence on readers.
