摘　　要：本文分析了1997-2005年英语专业八级考试阅读理解题中阅读材料的体裁、题材以及考试的题型,归纳出了命题的基本规律及趋势。总的来说,阅读材料的体裁多样、题材广泛,考试的题型既注重考察寻找具体信息的能力,又注重考察推理能力。这些发现对英语阅读理解的教学提供了一定的参考信息。This article summarizes the patterns and trends of the TEM-8 reading comprehension components on the basis of a detailed analysis of the reading materials and questions in the Reading Comprehension of TEM-8(1997-2005)in terms of the subject matter,style and question type.The main findings are:(1)the reading materials are of varied styles and themes,and(2)the questions for reading comprehension focus on testing candidates’ inferential ability as well as the ability to search for the specific information.The findings shed some light on the teaching of English reading comprehension.
