摘　　要：本文评述西方语言学界 (特别是美洲和澳大利亚 )话语类型研究的主要理论模式。共分三部分 :1 )介绍发端于美洲的话语类型理论 (北美修辞学派和社会认知模式 )以及起源于澳大利亚的话语类型理论 (悉尼学派、社会符号模式和模块理论 ) ;2 )对比分析两大洲理论派别的异同 ;3)重新界定话语类型。The present paper offers a review and evaluation of genre study in Western linguistic circles, with its focus on the diverse genre models in America and Australia. The paper falls into three parts: the first part discusses genre theories originated from America and Australia; the second part makes a comparison and contrast of genre theories grown out of the two continents; the third part presents a new definition of genre, a framework for genre analysis and the practicality of genre study.
