摘　　要：爱伦坡是第一个对短篇小说从理论上加以总结,并按照自己的理论进行创作的作家,是他的努力使短篇小说趋于成熟。坡颇具代表性的作品《一桶白葡萄酒》不论从词汇、句法还是叙述角度等方面都经过了缜密的思考与安排,一字一句都体现了他的小说一贯的主题,即恐怖与复仇。整部小说从一开始到结束都笼罩在紧张,压抑的氛围之中,这说明坡是一个在风格上独树一帜的作家,他的小说体现了形式与内容的完美统一。The majority of critics in the world have recognized the real importance of Poe as a great writer of fiction. He was the first one who tried to cash in on his own literary practice to rationalize about literary creations. In his short story The Cask of Amontillado, the diction, syntax and narration all match well with the horrible atmosphere and the theme of revenge. By analyzing the stylistic features of this story, we can easily see Poe抯 skills in story writing and the artistic charm of his works. Poe抯 own creations of imagination satisfy his critical theories more or less perfectly.
