摘　　要：本文提出未来武汉的国际定位、国际品级、国际名次至关重要。应瞄准最有国际知名度的城市,作为借代造势的对象,扩大自己的影响,提升自己的品级。“东方芝加哥”这张国际名片,是武汉建设国际大都市的最佳身份证。武汉与芝加哥相比,有太多相似之处。要建成真正的“东方芝加哥”,至少应该建成五个世界级中心:交通中心、重工业中心、金融中心、教科研中心、高新技术产业中心。西部大开发和中国加入WTO的历史机遇,为武汉建设“东方芝加哥”创造了条件。'Oriental Chitago'--this international card, is the best ID card for WU Han to establish an international city. Compare with chicago, their are many similarities between these two cities. There is a long distance for us to build a real 'Oriental Chicago'. At least we should complete the following five international centers:Transport Center; Havy Industry Center; Finance Center, Education-Science and Research center and the High-tech Industry center. The Western exploration and China's entering WTO offered a historical opportunity for WuHan to constract the 'Oriental chicago'.
