摘　　要：2003年11月，湖北省政府作出了《关于加强城镇建设工作的决定》。对湖北的城镇建设提出了明确的指导思想和奋斗目标，制定了一系列工作措施。按照“五个统筹”的要求，把城镇建设与经济社会发展有机地统一起来。前不久，本刊记者就此专题采访了湖北省省长罗清泉同志。In 2003 October, the government of Hubei Province announced the Decision on Boosting Urbanization. It explicitly proposed guidelines, goals and specific measures of urban construction in Hubei Province. And it also stated that it was essential to follow 'Five Coordiation' to integrate urban construction with economic development. Focusing on the Decision, the correspondent made an interview with Mr. Qingquan Luo, the governor of Hubei Province. Mr. Luo made comments on many aspects of urban construction in Hubei Province, such as achievements, problems, urban planning, boosting urbanization, infrastructure, environments and governmental administration. He also emphasized that it is necessary to deal with five important relations appropriately, which were between layout of urbanization and that of economy, urban development and rural development, construction of central cities and that of other cities, infrastructure and environments, development of central cities and regional economic growth. The goal is to make coordinative development of urban economy, society and environments.
