摘　　要：本文在发展系统功能语言学情态系统的基础上 ,分析辛普森一案中的法庭交叉质询 ,从语言学的角度找出法庭交叉质询所揭示的人际关系。我们的结论是 :在辩论中 ,客观、肯定的言语让说话者拥有优势 ;主观、含混的言语使说话者处于劣势。This paper first develops the Modality systems and then applies them to analyze a section of the cross-examination between Bailey the defendant lawyer and Fuhrman the detective in the O. J. Simpson Trial. The analysis is closely related to the power relationship revealed by modality devices. The analysis leads to the conclusion that those whose speech is objective and certain are more powerful than those whose speech is subjective and uncertain.
