摘  要:A novel Schiff base was synthesized by the reaction of terephthaldehyde with thiosemicarbazide. The structure was confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis, 1H NMR and X-ray single crystal diffractometry and the composition of the compound is identified as C16H26N8O2S2. The preliminary anti-bacterial activity tests showed the Schiff base possesses an inhibition activity towards Escherichia Coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis.A novel Schiff base was synthesized by the reaction of terephthaldehyde with thiosemicarbazide.
