American popular culture has had the greatest influence on the development of other cultures in the course of the exchange of world cultures in the 20th century. The rise and development of American popular culture has been closely associated with modernity as opposed to tradition. To a certain extent, since American popular culture meets both the material and spiritual needs of modern people living in a fast-paced society,it has spread to the world very quickly and still maintains an unchecked momentum of expansion. Although the global expansion of American popular culture has constituted a threat to the development of other cultures, it will not and cannot eliminate the intrinsic characteristics of different cultures and cannot lead ultimately to the rise of a homogenized global culture. The Americanization of different societies only exists within the limits of the material level of the culture. It will neither change the cultural spirit rooted in people's minds nor replace the diversified development of world cultures.
