摘  要:本文基于多模态隐喻理论,对电影《欲望号街车》中的图像、声音以及语言模态使用的隐喻进行了研究。图像隐喻揭示了作者田纳西•威廉斯在创作时,想要表达的历史背景和情节走向。其次通过最发达的视觉模态和听觉模态中的隐喻,探究了电影中通过各种元素所暗示的人物心情,内心想法以及屏幕背后的人物群体。该影片采用了多模态隐喻手法,体现了作品所要揭示的主题,反映了美国南北战争后,南方的堕落与北方的兴起,以及当时被禁止明确展示的同性恋主题。Based on the multimodal metaphor theory, this paper attempts to study the metaphors of image, sound and language mode used in the film A Streetcar Named Desire. The image metaphors reveal the historical background and plot trend that Tennessee Williams wanted to express in his creation. In addition, through the metaphors of the most developed visual and auditory modes, it explores the characters’ mood, inner thoughts and the people behind the screen suggested by various elements in the film. The film adopts multi-modal metaphor to show the theme in the work, which reflects the degeneration of the south and the rise of the north after the American Civil War, as well as the homosexual theme that was forbidden to be explicitly displayed at that time.
