摘 要:本文基于COCA语料库,利用MIP隐喻识别方法,分析了create施事者的概念隐喻和概念转喻的分类情况。结果显示有系统隐喻、过程隐喻、权力隐喻、主体隐喻、人的实体/抽象部分作为转喻突显、自然成分作为隐喻目标域共七个类别。绝大多数隐喻是将人的创造属性投射到无生命的实体或抽象概念上,转喻则是选取人的实体部分或抽象部分作为转喻中的认知突显来进行创造活动。Create一词的人文性非常强,其施事者大多是以人为中心向外扩展的产物,少量施事者属于自然界。概念隐喻和概念转喻是英语学习中常见的思维方式,对create施事者的相关分析能够更清晰地勾勒出其隐喻转喻种类和概念迁移,对英语词汇教学带来一定启发。Based on the COCA corpus, the present study applies metaphor identification procedure (MIP) to make classification of the agent of the word “create” from the perspectives of conceptual metaphor and conceptual metonymy. The results show that there are seven categories, including system metaphor, process metaphor, power metaphor, subject metaphor, human entity/abstract part as metonymy prominence, and natural component as metaphor target domain. Most metaphors pro-ject the creative attributes of human beings onto inanimate entities or abstract concepts, while metonymy uses the physical or abstract parts of human beings as the cognitive prominence in me-tonymy to carry out creative activities. The word “create” is filled with a strong sense of humanism. Most of its agents are the extensive products of human-centered concepts, only a small number of agents belong to the natural environment. Since conceptual metaphor and conceptual metonymy are common ways of thinking in English learning, analysis of the agents of “create” can make a clearer outline for its conceptual transfer, and bring some inspirations to English vocabulary teach-ing.
