摘　　要：远东热带医学会是在美国驻菲律宾殖民政府倡议下,由东亚、东南亚各殖民政府以及日本、中国、暹罗等国家于1908年在马尼拉联合成立的远东地区首个区域性公共卫生组织。由于该地区各殖民政府和各国政府对医学的重视,以及美国对公共卫生事业的关注,远东热带医学会在成立后很快积极参与到远东的区域性疫病防治中,在脚气病等远东常见恶性病研究与防治以及区域内联合检验检疫等方面做出了努力。随着第一次世界大战后公共卫生全球合作的开展,远东热带医学会通过与国联卫生组织和洛克菲勒基金会国际卫生委员会等机构的合作也参与了全球卫生治理。Far Eastern Association of Tropical Medicine which is the first regional public health agency in the Far East was established in 1908 with support of American-Philippines Government and the colonial governments in East and Southeast Asia.Since the colonial governments paid attention to medicines,FEATM quickly put itself into disease control and prevention,especially on the prevention of beriberi and Inspection and Quarantine.With the rising of global cooperation after the first World War,FEATM energetically participated in global public health cooperation through League of Nations Health Organization and International Health Board of Rockefeller Foundation.
