摘　　要：奥康纳的第一部长篇小说《智血》被认为是美国文学史上最重要的宗教小说之一。在这部小说中,主人公黑兹尔表面上看是在反抗传统的上帝。然而,仔细阅读就会发现黑兹尔一生当中所做的一切都是为了追求上帝,并最终导致了他的幻灭和惨死。通过主人公黑兹尔的精神历程,奥康纳表达了对于传统上帝的追求和依赖只能使追求者产生幻灭和绝望的观点。黑兹尔精神追求过程中上帝的绝对缺席阐明了奥康纳的神学观,即人类必须找到一种和超验的存在和谐共处的新方法,也许这正是奥康纳的处女作向她自己和读者提出的问题。O'Connor's first novel Wise Blood is considered to be one of the most important religious novels in American literary history.In the novel,Hazel who is the protagonist seems to rebel against the traditional God,but a careful study can show that what Hazel does all his life is to pursue him,which leads to his disillusionment and his miserable death at last.Through Hazel's spiritual exploration,O'Connor demonstrates that the pursuit of and reliance on the traditional God can only lead to the disillusionment and despair of human beings.The absolute absence of traditional God in Hazel's spiritual pursuit declares O'Connor's view of theology.Human beings must try to set up a new and harmonious relationship with the transcendence.Maybe this is the question that O'Connor put forward for herself and her readers through her first novel.
