摘　　要：英语进行体从其语义实质演变而来的语用意义在语用实践中运用日益广泛。根据语法化理论,从当代英语进行体的语义基础和特点出发,遵循"语用法的语法化"研究路径,能为探究英语进行体的语用功能演变过程及其动因提供新视角。New pragmatic meanings embedded in English progressive aspect are widely conveyed by speakers in conversation. In accordance with the grammaticalization theory, these new pragmatic meanings have experienced a process of pragmatic grammaticalization, which is based on the basic and core semantic meaning of English progressive aspect. The paper tries to present its grammaticalization cline and the pragmatic factors involved.
