传赁龙节铭文考释——战国符节铭文研究之三

摘　　要：传赁龙节旧或名为王命传龙节,是战国中期楚国之物,据有人统计共有四件。正反面有铭文八字,重文一字,共九字(图一): 王命命(?)(传)赁正面一(?)(檐)(?)(食)之反面除正面第三字和反面第二字比较难认外,其他的文字都容易认识。正面第三字旧有"惠"、"道"、"疐"等不同释法,唐兰先生释为"传",现已得到大家的公认。此字原文从"辵"从《说文》古文"断"The 'Chuan Lin'传凭-inscribed dragon tally,one of the noted bronzes from the Chu state,hears an inscription of high value for studying pre-Qin post. However,scholars greatly differ from each other on the decipherment of this inscription. The present paper makes a restudy of it with the results of previous researches taken into account and comes to the con- clusion that it may be deciphered as 'To the chua-lin appointed according to royal edicts,one dan 担 of grain should be given for his food. ' Here,the first phrase means the postmen em- ployed by the Chu king,while the second specifies that every posthouse all over the Chu state supply monthly each of its chuan-lin with one dan of grain as his board expenses. According to related evidence,one dan 一担 was equal to one hu and two dou 一斛二斗. Thus a chuan- lin's daily meals were four sheng 四升 (four ancient Chinese liters) of grain.
