摘　　要：词语是语言的基本单位,是语言表述的基本要素。词语不仅含有语言符号本身赋予它的意义,而且更多地体现着一种社会及文化的意义。词语中新词的产生,旧词的消失,词语意思的变化与社会发展、文化背景有着密切的联系。因此,对词汇的学习和研究不应该把社会及文化因素排除在外。深入挖掘词语的社会及文化意义有助于我们打通文化交流的通道,增进对外来文化的了解,坦然迎接外来文化的冲击,并为"全球化"的到来提供文化交流的平台。Words are the basic units of language and essential factors of expression of language. They not only have significance given by their language symbol,but embody a kind of social and cultural significance.Some phenomenon,such as birth of new words,disappearance of old words,changes of words'meaning,have close relation with social development and cultural background. Therefore,we should remove away the factors of society and culture when we study and research words. To study social and cultural significance of words deeply is helpful for us to dredge the channels of cultural communication,to increase the understanding of foreign culture,to face the challenges of foreign culture and provide the places for cultural communication with the coming of age of 'globalization'.
