摘　　要：我国出版的英语语法著作,多数都没有提及排除语状从句(The Adverbial Clauseof Exception).近年来引进的蜚声我国外语界的Quirk等人写的几本语法书。This paper is focused on the discussion of the adverbial clause of exception. The adverbial clause of exception can be introduced by the compound subordinators except that, but that, save that etc or colloqially just by except, but, save etc. The sub-clause, usually located after the main clause, has the function to exclude or give further explanation to what has been stated in the main clause. Omission of any part of the sub-clause is impossible when the clause is introduced by the compound subordinators, but omission is sometimes possible when simple subordinators are used.
