Objective To investigate expression of maspin in colon cancer and its correlation with VEGF-C.Methods The expression of maspin and VEGF-C were detected by immunohistochemistry in 97 cases of colon cancer specimens .The ex-pression of maspin and VEGF-C,and their relationship with clinicopathological parameters was analyzed respectively .Results Maspin expression of colon cancer tissues was significantly lower than those in normal colorectal tissues .The low expression of maspin was associated with depth of invasion ,size of tumor, and Duke's staging (P<0.05).The expression of maspin in patients with lymph node metastasis was lower than those without metastasis ,there was no statistical difference(P=0.059).Overexpres-sion of VEGF-C was observed in colon cancer and was correlated with depth of invasion ,Duke's staging and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05).There was an inverse correlation between the expression of maspin and VEGF-C(γ=-0.237,P=0.019).Conclu-sion Low expression of maspin and overexpression of VEGF-C is closely correlated to the malignant biological behaviors of colon cancer and may be valuable in the evaluation of potential for invasivness ,metastasis and prognosis .
