山重水复疑无路 柳暗花明又一村——评汉英对照《红楼梦》的出版

摘　　要：《红楼梦》因其在中国文学中的特殊地位,其英译本广受关注和研究,霍克思英译本是最受关注的译本之一。但霍译《红楼梦》的原本并不是一个固定的、现存的本子,以往的《红楼梦》英译研究,有意或无意地避开了霍译本所采用的原本这一问题。基于霍克思英译本的《红楼梦》英译研究,无法忽略原文版本的问题,所以霍译本的原本问题逐渐成为红译研究的一个瓶颈。2012年上海外语教育出版社出版的汉英对照《红楼梦》,实现了霍译《红楼梦》的原本复原,解决了霍译本的原本问题,实现了霍译本的中英对应,为所有《红楼梦》英译研究以及英译对比研究提供了基础,。Hongloumeng, for its high position in Chinese literature, was widely focused and studied, and itsEnglish translation by David Hawkes as The Story of the Stone, as one of most popular translations, also aroused theinterest of many scholars and researchers. But the problem occurs when Hawkes translated the novel not based on a unique source text,and in the previous studies,the original text of Hawkes' translation was consciously orunconsciously ignored. But overlooking the problem is not a good way for further study, and the original text becomes a bottleneck for studying English translation of Hongloumeng. The problem is not solved untill SFLEP in July 2012 published Chinese-English The Story of the Stone,which realizes there storing of the original text of Hawkes' translated TheStory of the Stone,fulfills the paralleling of Chinese and English of Hongloumeng,breaks through the old limitation in studying English translation of Hongloumeng,and opens a new door for the future study of English translation of Hongloumeng.
