摘　　要：1. 生平简述 捷克语言学家、布拉格语言学派创始人之一马泰修斯(Vilem Mathesius,1882一1945)于1882年8月3日生于波希米亚境内的帕杜比斯。1893年至1901年读高级文科中学,其间在拉丁、希腊、德、捷克等语言方面打下坚实的基础。1901年在布拉格查理大学攻读日尔曼语文学,曾师从戈鲍(Jan Gebau-er)等名师。大学时代在阅读捷克哲学家马萨里克(Tomas G.Masaryk)的著作《具体逻辑尝试》(1887)时,初次考虑过语言学共时和历时的差异问题。1905年获博士学位。1906年发表第一篇语言学论文,评论叶斯泊森的名著《英语的发展和结构》(1905)。This paper makes a comprehensive introduction to V. Mathesius, a distinguished Czech linguist, founder and life-long chairman of the Prague Linguistic Circle. The paper surveys Mathesius' academic career, areas of research and achievements. It discusses his theory, linguistic charac-terology in particular, and evaluates his work with reference to his influence on the present-day Prague School members. Also, it aims to draw more attention from Chinese linguists to the Prague School.
