摘 要:非洲谚语体现的文化传统论析李保平ONCULTURALTRADITIONREFLECTEDBYAFRICANPROVERBS¥LiBaopingAbstract:Africahasveryrichanddevelopedproverbs.Theyare...Abstract Africa has very rich and developed proverbs. They are the essence of Africa's popular culture, and given that the elite culture in Africa's traditional society is not fully developed, they constitute an important source for people to gain social knowledge and experiences as well as belief and norms in life. They are the embodiment of the popular wisdom, the infusion of the thoughts of the wise and the pool of human knowledge and skills in production and life, presenting a miniature of Africa's spiritual culture. African proverbs are longstanding and well-established arts of language which were born together with African poeple's life and production, and therefore are functional for polishing languages. African proverbs could be traced back to different specific cultural backgrounds, and at the same time they reflect or refract Africa's rich colourful traditional culture, embodying African people's mode of thinking, way of life and conception of value. For hundreds of years, people have looked upon proverbs as moral admonitions and creed for standardized behaviours. The position and role of proverbs in African traditional society are indeed matchless in other parts of the world.
