摘　　要：锡德尼在《为诗辩护》中从分析语音、词汇、语法等语言要素入手,用乔叟以来的新诗作为例证,提出他对于英语诗性的认识。锡德尼的认识既是英语在那个时代迅猛发展引发思考的结果,又是英吉利民族本土意识增强的表现,还反映了当时英语新诗建设的需要。这种认识为16世纪末及其以后的英国诗歌发展提供了理论支持和实践指导。Observing the poeticality of the English language,Sir Philip Sidney, in his Defence of Poesie (or An Apologie for Poetrie ),analyzed three aspects (of the grammatical,lexical,and phonetic ) of the swiftly changing language of his time,pointing out that English can serve any purpose of poetry.Sidney's idea reflects the development of English when the nation was in her rising era, and also expresses the urgent necessity of New Poetry composition in language at almost the very beginning.Sidney's The Defence of Poesie provided the theoretical support and guidance to the poetical construction of his contemporary and the coming decades.
