摘　　要：日本步入少子高龄化社会已经多年,对于主要依靠学费收入办学的私立高校来说,大学入学适龄人口的持续下降无疑是重大的挑战。近年来,大量日本私立高校陷入经营困境,甚至有少数学校最终停止招生,破产倒闭。由于日本政府无法提供充分的财政援助,私立高校只能通过调整自身的办学模式、学科结构和生源结构来应对危机。然而,日本私立高校目前并未能有效摆脱危机,以维持现状为理念的应对措施实际上是一种本末倒置之举。Japan had stepped into the stage of aging population and low birthrate for many years.For those private universities which mainly depended on tuition fees,it was no doubt a serious challenge that the enrollment rate for college-age population had continued to decline.In recent years,a large number of private universities in Japan had embogged into poor management.A few universities even had stopped recruiting students and ended up in bankruptcy.Since the Japanese government was unable to provide sufficient financial support for those private universities,they had to deal with the present crisis by adjusting their school management,their formation of disciplines and their structure of student source.However,private universities in Japan couldn't extricate themselves from that crisis efficiently nowadays.In fact,the way they dealt with the crisis by maintaining the status quo was like putting the cart before the horse.
