摘 要:清中叶以后,近代新闻出版业的出现促使印刷技术推陈出新,反过来,印刷技术的革命又使得新式报纸如雨后春笋般蓬勃发展,两者相辅相成,相互激荡。伴随着新式报纸的勃兴,不仅印刷技艺升级换代、新闻出版物市场重新洗牌,且新闻从业人员队伍不断走向职业化、规范化,这些都标志着清季新式报业的发展日臻成熟,而那些丧失了科举晋身之阶的文人学士也因此增加了就业渠道。这一切又都离不开租界中治外法权的存在,离不开一定程度上的言论自由和新闻自由。上海《图画日报》用最生动、最鲜活的笔触,为今人研究那一段激动人心的新闻出版史,留下了宝贵的第一手资料。After mid Qing Dynasty, the emergence of modern Chinese publishing industry prompted the innovation of printing technology. On the contrary, the revolution of printing technology made newspapers boom. Both complemented each other. Along with the vigorous growth of newspapers, printing technology has upgraded, publication market was reshuffled, in the meanwhile, practitioners of the press continuously developed towards professionalism and standardization. All of them marked the maturity of the new style press in the late Qing Dynasty. As a result, it increased the employment channels for the literati who lost the imperial examination. All of above was inseparable from the concession of extraterritoriality, was inseparable from the freedom of speech and freedom of the press to certain extent. With the most vivid and fresh brushwork, Pictures Daily in Shanghai has left behind the precious first-hand data for the present research on the history of modern Chinese press and publication.
