谈谈汉语数字式略语在英译中的“镶补”

摘　　要：数字式略语是指把相同的结构成分或语义成分提取出来,冠以数字而构成的一种表达方式。在翻译这些汉语数字式略语时,往往需要进行“镶补”,即在翻译时补充一些读者不懂的文化背景,或做一些解释性的翻译,使读者能更好地了解原文。在英译过程中进行“镶补”显得十分必要。Extracting the identical structure or semantic meaning preceded by a number forms numeral compact expressions. Supplement is ofen used when such k ind of Chinese expressions are translated into English.That is, we must add some explantions or cultural backgrounds so as to make the readers understand fully. This article discusses the distinguishing features of numeral compact expression s and the necessity of supplement in translating them into English.
