摘　　要：I present a series of anecdotes illustrating the friendship and cooperation I have experienced with German scientists. As the sun's rays can be refracted in a tiny drop of water while a whole organism can be cloned from a single somatic cell, my own experiences depict the fruitful past, an encouraging present and a promising future for the flourishing long-term cooperation between the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Max Planck Society (MPS).
