摘　　要：本文以系统功能语言学关于“物质过程”和“评价系统”的观点为视角,在物质过程及其成分的评价价值的框架中,研究小说中“事件”对人物形象形成的作用,首先讨论小说及其人物的分析维度,提出三维分析维度,即作者视角、语篇视角和读者视角,接着讨论语言实证的系统功能语言学方法,然后用物质过程及其成分的评价价值框架反观人物形象的形成过程。This paper studies the contribution of 慹vents?to the composition of characters in novels from a perspective of Systemic Functional Linguistics, chiefly the aspect of Material Process and that of Appraisal Systems. First, it discusses the effectiveness of 3D analysis of novels as discourse. The 3D analysis includes perspective of the author, perspective of the text and perspective of the reader. Secondly, it talks about linguistic evidence analysis from the Systemic Functional Linguistic perspective. Finally, it examines the composition of character images by applying the framework of Appraisal values of Material Processes and their components.
