摘　　要：GPS全球定位系统具有优越的导航、定位功能。具有操作简便,测量速度快,定位精度高,不受天气状况限制的特点。将GPS技术应用于林业工作中,能够快速、高效、准确地提供点、线、面要素的精密坐标,完成森林资源调查与管理中各种境界线的勘测与放样落界,成为森林资源调查与动态监测的有力工具。GPS技术在确定林区面积;在确定原始森林、古树名木的位置;在林业工程测量、飞播造林、森林防火及森林旅游等方面可以发挥其独特的作用。Global Positioning System is provided with functions of superior navigation and positioning. It can operate simply and rapidly, positioning precision and little limited by weather condition. To apply techique of Global Positioning System in Forestry, precisely coordinates of key elements such as spot, line and surface would be provided rapidly and accurately .In investigating and managing of forest resource, kinds of borderlines can be surveyed and set out. Global Positioning System will become strong tools in investigation and monitoring development of forest resources. It brings unique function into playing in some aspects such as ascertain forest area ,location of virgin forest and ancient trees ,forest construction, aviation afforestation ,forest fire prevention and forest tourism.
