摘　　要：索尔·贝娄所创作的几乎所有的长篇小说中都隐含着一个“父与子”的主题。在表面的故事情节之下 ,有一个与之平行发展并不断强化的“父与子”主题的情节结构。根据情节线索的不同 ,可以分为“血缘父子”、“精神父子”和“异化父子”。作者将隐喻的“父与子”主题与美国文化相结合 ,从中生发出关于整个人类的文化哲学思考 ,既表现出了深厚的犹太文化内涵 ,又超越了犹太民族属性 ,具有世界性的普遍意义。Almost all of Saul Bllow's full-length novels deal with the theme of ″fathers and sons″. To accommodate this theme, in each of his novels, there is a paralleled, developing and unceasingly intensifying repertoire of ″fathers and sons″ motifs.According to differences of plots and clues, these motifs may be divided into three patterns:″fathers and sons by blood″, ″fathers and sons in spirit″, ″alienated fathers and sons″. Saul Bllow is to combine the metaphorical theme of ″fathers and sons″ with a study of American culture, out of which the cultural and philosophical contemplation about human beings grows. This theme not only represents profound Jewish cultural connotation, but also transcends the narrow Jewish identity to achieve a cosmopolitan significance.
